Supply management and its logistics is a challenging area in hospital services. The entire EPIS management chain was impacted by the pandemic, which now requires quality maintenance combined with dispensing control, and thus reducing losses and costs, to avoid shortages. This article describes an experience of managing personal protective equipment (EPIS) in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic in a University Hospital. Having as a method the experience report (RE) of the interventions carried out in the face of the imminent risk of hospital shortages, due to the large consumption of PPE by employees and the need for specific protection for workers in COVID areas, from April 2020, culminating in the institution an EPIS Center, as a strategy for managing inputs and optimizing good distribution practices. The rational use of EPIS became imperative, as it is a finite resource and indispensable for the safety of workers, however the adoption of good distribution practices removed the risk of shortages. The creation of the EPIS Center provided the management of the equipment, in all its stages, making its use rational and had a positive impact on the administrative and assistance areas, due to the positive financial impact on the institution.
