The present article has as object of study the education seen as having a market value and its quality as an essential characteristic of competitive market value in the neoliberal model of formation of social status. The text emerges as a disquiet before educational policies and reforms proposed under the guidance of international and national organizations, permeated by economic and market measures, with characteristics of privatization, with the purpose of overcoming a supposed crisis in the name of progress, economic development and of the social, generating, on the other hand, a distance from education as a human formation, transforming it into a fetish.
