Abstract

The article analyzes the role played by Azorean immigrants in Rio Grande do Sul based on some classics of Rio Grande do Sul historiography, seeking to identify the “different immigrants” present in these works. Thus, we analyze the different existing views on the Azorean in Rio Grande do Sul historiography, worrying about not reconstructing the history of this immigration process, but rather identifying, in the analyzed works, the profile built by its authors for these 18th century immigrants. Having as reference the understanding that the works on Azorean immigration in RS are in different temporalities and contexts, it is that we will start to investigate this rich production, which now presents them as a crude and rude subject; hardworking and honest, now as a builder of the gaucho identity.

Daniel Luciano Gevehr, PROGRAMA DE PÓS-GRADUAÇÃO EM DESENVOLVIMENTO REGIONAL - PPGDR

Realiza estágio de pós-doutorado junto ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em História da Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS). É doutor em história (2007) pela mesma Universidade, onde também realizou sua graduação em história (2000) e mestrado em história (2003). É Professor Titular do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Desenvolvimento Regional (PPGDR - FACCAT), onde também atua como Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa (CNPq) Instituições, Ordenamento Territorial e Políticas Públicas para o Desenvolvimento Regional. Participa como pesquisador dos grupos Estratégias Regionais (Universidade UNILASALLE), Núcleo de Estudos de História da Imigração (Universidade de Passo Fundo - UPF), História das mulheres e estudos de gênero	Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul - PUCRS). É coordenador do NIEMI - Núcleo Interdisciplinar de Estudos Migratórios e Identidades, em parceria com universidades do Brasil e do exterior. É, também, coordenador de Área do Programa Residência Pedagógica (PRP-Capes) do Curso de História da FACCAT. Seu campo de investigação privilegia, atualmente, as questões que envolvem a problemática do patrimônio cultural, da educação patrimonial, da memória,das sensibilidades, da produção dos espaços urbanos, educação e formação docente. Pesquisa, ainda sobre as representações de raça, etnia e gênero. Tem experiência na área de história, educação e desenvolvimento regional, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: história do Brasil e do Rio Grande do Sul, história dos municípios, movimentos migratórios históricos e contemporâneos, movimento Mucker, patrimônio cultural, espaços urbanos, memória, representações e relações de gênero, raça e etnia e processos identitários.
