Abstract

Abstract: Educational regulations concerning multidisciplinary extracurricular activities in non-formal spaces such as university laboratories, museums, farm schools, botanical gardens, extractive reserves, and traditional communities are guided by the resolutions of the National Council of Education and constitute privileged instruments for this integration.The objective of this descriptive research was to promote students’ environmental awareness in natural spaces, integrated with different areas of knowledge, with an emphasis on the study of ancestral fauna and flora and the recovery of empirical and traditional knowledge to be applied throughout their academic and social trajectories.This experience report, carried out since 2021, has the pedagogical intention of articulating the content of Science and Biology courses with field practices in non-formal spaces, fostering critical and contextualized learning. Classes take place in the form of technical visits and open field lessons, in partnership with research institutes and the Botanical Garden of Manaus, with prior authorization from guardians and pre-scheduling with local universities, researchers, and student instructors.The organization of field classes requires adequate logistical planning, taking into account the needs and learning pace of each student. As main contributions, the activities have enabled the development of multiple observation skills, the

identification of vocations for future professions focused on environmental scientific communication, and the strengthening of the recovery of ancestral knowledge from different cultures.Such knowledge, experienced within the genetic and family context of the students, is connected to the environments visited, broadening the meaning of learning. In this way, the experience collectively builds learning committed to sustainability, the appreciation of life in all its forms, and the recognition of local culture across all spheres of knowledge.
