OUR HISTORY
The BRJPD arose from the interaction and discussions of a group of researchers in the field of humanities and social sciences, national and international, which aim to disseminate Brazilian scientific research, in an agile and responsible manner. Likewise, they sought to establish an exchange forum between Brazilian and international researchers, based on the dissemination of research by Brazilian and foreign authors.
They decided not to link the journal to any university or graduate group, because as the group was plural, the idea was that the journal would express this plurality and not be linked to any specific graduate program with their determined research agendas. Starting from this collaborative starting point, the editorial board was formed in the same way, trying to maximize the plurality of area of training, and regionality of the institutions.
Likewise, the ad hoc body of evaluators was formed collaboratively from the socialization of the Facebook page, a registration form. After registration, the editorial team filtered the results, disregarding those that did not meet the criteria, and in the same way, the calls for submissions were published on the journal's page. At the end of 2020, the BRPD published its first dossier, organized by two doctoral professors.
At the end of 2020, the journal published its first dossier, organized by two doctoral professors. From the increased demand of the journal (evidenced mainly after September 2020), and the increased responsibility of its publishing, requiring registration in databases and indexers, as well as its affiliation to ABEC, and compliance with several prerequisites for maintaining and expanding editorial quality, the BRJPD passed to the professional management of a commercial publisher in January 2021, changing its visual identity and perfecting its editorial policies, so that it could be indexed to the maximum possible bases, to fulfill its mission of disseminating scientific knowledge with excellence.
AD HOC REVIEWERS
The BRJPD has 275 ad hoc reviewers registered in the system, from different regions and educational institutions in Brazil and abroad. Of these, more than 100 have acted by issuing opinions on the articles in the 2019 and 2020 editions.
Our goal is to double the active evaluators so that the evaluation processes are streamlined and the authors can have a return in a maximum of 40 days, considering that the demand and demand for the journal tend to increase as it enters its third year (2021).
At the end of each evaluation, after the evaluator sends the opinion to the responsible editor, the latter forwards a statement to the referee for the evaluation carried out. Also, the evaluator can register the evaluation performed on the Publons website, which is a commercial website (from Clarivate Analytics) that provides a free service for academics to track, verify and show their peer review works and editorial contributions to academic journals.
The journal is already registered with Publons https://publons.com/journal/743859/brazilian-journal-of-policy-and-development/. The researcher/evaluator must have an account to register the evaluation made.
Thus, the evaluators value and publicize this work so important that it is the peer review.
