Ethics and Good Practices for Publication

Publishers
Editorial practice and the editor's relationship with authors and reviewers are supported by the Guide for Editors of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Every editorial decision is based on originality, contribution, pertinence, thematic validity, general structure and compliance with editorial policies to meet the scope of the journal.
EVALUATORS
The evaluation is based on the merit of the work, not influenced, positively or negatively, by personal, financial reasons or prejudices. Submissions and review details are kept confidential. The evaluator must make sure and inform the editors of any potential conflict of interest before accepting the review or during the process. When faced with any irregularity in relation to the evaluated article, the evaluator must notify the editor. Examples of possible irregularities are: identification of plagiarism; fabrication and/or falsification of results; redundant publication. Opinions that are not sufficiently justified are not accepted.
Authors
The indication of authorship in a scientific article, following the Guide for authors of COPE (English), is due only to those who:

a) contribute intellectually, directly and substantially to the research/article conception (acquisition, analysis or interpretation of the presented data);
b) participate in the construction of preliminary versions or critical review of the article's content;
c) are responsible for the authorship in order to guarantee accuracy and integrity of the article.

The author(s) must declare the existence of a conflict of interest, when applicable, using the appropriate field available in the work notes template that will be sent as a supplementary document to the article, and also in the corresponding field in the system during the submission process. Authors have the possibility of making an expanded publication by making their research data available as a supplementary document, provided that it is presented in an open format (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_open_formats) and the bibliographic reference of the article is added in the supplement (when possible).
WITHDRAWAL AND EXPRESSION OF CONCERN
The editor has a duty to act on suspected or alleged misconduct identified. This investigation extends to both submissions and published articles.

JORMED uses COPE flowcharts as a tool to investigate facts and determine the necessary actions to resolve cases.
ARTICLES PRESENTED AT SCIENTIFIC EVENTS
JORMED accepts articles already presented at scientific events, as long as they are reformulated and improved, mainly introduction, results and discussion. However, the authors have the obligation to inform the event (name and website link) where the work was presented and published, in the article submission process, in the “comments to the editor” field of the system. If the manuscript is accepted, it will be mentioned in a footnote that comes from a presentation made at the aforementioned scientific event.
